DAVID KNAPP WORKMAN

OBITUARY: Midland Reporter - Telegram, Tuesday, March 31, 1998

David Knapp Workman was born May 17, 1924, in Ashland, Ohio, to Thomas David and Lelia Knapp Workman. He was reared in the Rankin, Texas, area.

He enlisted in the Army Air Force in December 1942, at Lubbock, Texas, while attending Texas Tech University. He graduated as a second lieutenant April 29, 1944, in Bombardier Class 44-6. He was a POW at Stalag Luft III, Sagan, XIIID, Nurnberg,  VIIA, Moosburg and was liberated by General Patton. He was discharged with the rank of first lieutenant in November 1945. He held the Air Medal and the POW Medal.

He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1948, with BBA degree and, following a 37 year career with Production Credit Association, he retired in 1987. He had been a Scoutmaster for Troop 28, and he had served as both member and president of the Stanton ISD School Board. He was a member...   [ Read more » ]
