OBIT :: OLD DR WALLIS

From the Registration Blank filed at the Dallas meeting of the Association of the Medical Officers of the Army and Navy of the Confederacy, we quote the following brief data:     "Entered the Confederate service as surgeon, assigned to duty with the 4th Missouri Cavaljy (Greene'" Regiment) May 1861, at Mountain Home, Mo. Rank at the close of the war Surgeon. Have not yet surrendered. P.O.Rockdale, Texas." A letter from his son, Dr. R.W. Wallis, gives the sad intelligence of his death, which occurred on the night of January 6th, 1903. OBIT :: DR. R.W. WALLIS

Rockdale, Tex., Jan. 9. -- Dr. R.S. Wallis, a prominent physician, is dead here. He served as a surgeon in the confederate army, and while acting as such was summoned to attend a duel in which Gen. Marmaduke, of Missouri, killed his antagonist. The Burlingame Enterprise, (Burlingame, Kansas), January 15, 1903
