2006 – Dad told this story while at the home of Mr Keith in Hiwassee AR Haw
In 2006 my father told the story as to how he came to be in the US Navy. He tried to join the Navy but was turned down because of a fast heartbeat. He was later drafted by the US Army and while at the induction center awaiting to be sworn into the Army a Navy man walked by and asked his group if they wouldn't rather be in the Navy. Dad told how the Navy turned him down. The Navy man told him if the Army would take him so would the Navy and for him to follow him down the hall. Dad did and he was inducted into the US Navy.
